Rain, Rain GO AWAY!

So I am in a good routine : getting up in the morning, running, coming back, eating breakfast, shower and then being LAZY! But the weather is not cooperating. I knew there was a chance of rain today, with a higher likelihood tomorrow. I figured it would rain on and off today, but I could still get a run in. WRONG. It is pouring and I don't see any break in the weather. Any suggestions on what I can do in the meantime, and joining a gym isn't an option!

My suggestion is on rainy days since you can't run on a treadmill is to do some core work. Break out the stability ball and get to it. Cruches, hamsting work and even eventually pushups. I would start to work on pushups and cruches on these days. Granted this won't really add to your endurance in running but it let you feel like you did something. If you really want to work your legs you can run the stairs in your house like a stadium workout. Up and down a few times and then take a break. This will help train a little bit for hills during the run since you probably don't get many of those around your neighborhood.

Or try to do some step aerobics. I'm sure you can find something to step up and down on. Do some intervals of this to get the heart rate up. Then incorporate some lunges.

Plus training your mind to stand the pain of pushups, crunches and burning stepups will help you to mentally push through those last few miles of the race. Train your brain to stand the pain.
