Enough is Enough

This is the last week of my class, and I posted that I was FINISHED a couple days ago. Unfortunately, I logged on this morning and discovered I received a 50% on one of my assignments.

Ok, I do not do 50% work.

They stated they couldn't see my comments, and I went on this morning and they were there. Unless I am going crazy I don't know what else to do. At this point I feel like we are just taking points off to take them off. I've had just about enough.

I have e-mailed so this better get taken care of, but I wish it would happen soon so I can enjoy my weekend and not worry about anything.

So glad to be done this class.

I am a Master x2!

This is the last week of classes for this block at college, and I posted my LAST discussion board post today, which means....

I have finished my 2nd MASTER'S!!!! Yay!

Michael and I are going out to eat tonight, and then I plan to be in celebration mode this weekend. We have a surprise part for one of our friends so that should be fun!

I can't celebrate for too long, it's on to the next one! I really want to complete my Master's in Counseling, and I have two free courses through the district still to use this year, so I might as well use them! I figure the more I do now, the more time I will get to spend with my kids when we have them! I am getting rather tired of class, but I am very excited to learn about this subject so I think I will be ok!

Oh, and apparently we are in store for more snow starting tonight. I think I am ready for summer....

You Want me to Do What?

Last week I met withe my professor to discuss the possibility of teaching a grad class in the Education department. It was my understanding that this was going to be an online class, I would be given the materials and a syllabus and throw in my own assignments here and there.

Not quite.

Instead, I was handed materials to design a course from scratch because they are redesigning the program. Ok, I can still do that. I am sure I can throw together a few assignments and call it a day. Unfortunately, I was informed it isn't an entirely online class either. Instead, since it is a new class and must be taught in the classroom first, I will be teaching it in a hybrid format which means the class meets three times, and the rest is online.

This is where I have the problem.

Have I mentioned I hate standing up in front of people? I start to get this nauseous feeling, and get clammy. I have no problem teaching fourth graders - they are nine and ten! The people in these grad classes will probably be older then me. I. Am. Terrified.

With all that being said, I still agreed to do it. I'm not sure what I was thinking. I am sure it is going to be a very interesting journey. It is definitely an opportunity I could not pass up. The money is great. I will be teaching 6 classes next year at $2,000 a pop. Nice money for a little vacation, or to save for our college fund for when we have kids (yes, I plan that far ahead), OR to buy things for our new house!

Now I just need to design the course! What did you like most about your college courses? Any help in design would be appreciated!!!

A Sigh of Relief!

Back in May, my husband made me aware of a program through the Department of Defense that awarded up to $6,000 to military spouses. This money could be used to take classes, certificate programs, tests or other academic related material that could help you get a job, get certified, basically help your career.

You simply had to get your program approved, register for classes and request the financial assistance. The great part? There is no need to pay the money back, you simply need to tell the DoD how the money helped you further your career.

Being the Type A, overachiever I am, could NOT pass up this opportunity! I quickly set up my program and asked for approval. I have my Master's, but wanted to take classes to get my +45 credits (the highest pay raise you can get without getting a Doctorate). Of course all of this costs money! That's why this program is great! It allowed me to take 5 classes for FREE, and get my +15 pay raise. I have one week of class left until I am finished a second Master's.

I just found out that this program was unexpectedly shut down! As of last Friday, they suspended the program indefinitely to rework it. It has always taken awhile for them to get the money to the university after I request it, but I checked last week and the money for my last class was posted. Talk about getting it in in the nick of time!

Today I am thankful for being organized, and a little bit of luck!

Back to Work We Go

Today was our first day back in 10 days! A early Spring break? An extension of Winter break? Either way you want to look at it, I will take it!

And of course, we woke up this morning to, guess what? MORE SNOW! Don't worry, less than an inch of accumulation occurred, thank goodness! If I had to come home and shovel more I would have lost my mind! Hopefully there is no more snow in our future!

Remember that college teaching job I mentioned? Well I have my meeting on Thursday! We also have a meeting tomorrow with our realtor to go over final listing information for our house, and on Friday we have a meeting with an insurance agent to go over short term disability for when I ever go out on maternity leave (no, not pregnant). BIG things this week!!

Happy Heart Day!

So happy to be spending today with my husband. In fact, happy to be spending everyday with my husband this year....

Love you.

Valentine's Date Night

Last night Michael and I celebrated Valentine's day! We headed out for a movie, and then to dinner at one of our favorite places. Of course my husband volunteered to take me to a place I have been begging to eat at, only to realize it was still closed due to the snow. Stupid snow.

Before dinner we went to see "Dear John", the new movie based on a Nicholas Sparks book. I love Nicholas Sparks, and I am the type that thinks a movie never lives up to the book, but I have always liked the movies. This movie was a little different. I read the book awhile ago, so I didn't remember all of it, but I remembered the basic details. Well the movie was very different, and I was VERY angry about the premise. Now, don't get me wrong, the premise was the same as the book, but I read the book pre-deployment, and early on in Michael and I's relationship. My feelings about the military and deployment have changed greatly, needless to say. I was so mad at the idea of this girl leaving her boyfriend while he was deployed, I couldn't really enjoy the rest of the movie.

Yes, I know, it's a movie, but it still annoys me so much. There are people who actually do that to their significant others while they are deployed. Cheat on them, spend all of their money, leave them....I think it's absolutely ridiculous. Anyway, the movie got me pretty fired up, and I walked out wishing I had seen something different. (I blame this on the Irish temper).

We went to dinner afterwards which was nice, as always. They had a champagne special and that hooked me! We even had dessert - an amazing peanut butter pie. I swear they had to have brought us 1/4 of the pie! Sorry Weight Watchers....it had to have been 50 points. Ah well...there's always next week!

Sunshine?

I am starting to hate that groundhog that predicted 6 more weeks of winter....boy was he right! After digging out for a second time this week, my back needs a break and some sun! I never thought I would say it, but I am ready to get back to a normal day. We are going stir crazy around here being stuck inside all day!

Luckily, my Dad and his 4 wheel drive came and rescued us today. We got out for a few hours and headed to the beach for lunch and some brief shopping. School is officially out until next Tuesday, so we need to start coming up with some other ways to be entertained!

Of course, this weekend we will be celebrating Valentine's Day! It is the first time in three years we will be together, so that is nice. I am not one that goes crazy over the holiday as I think you should act that way with your loved one everyday, but it is still nice to be able to go out and celebrate a little! What do you have in store for Valentine's day?

Snowbound

I woke up to more snow this morning! I just can't believe the amount of snow we are getting. They are calling for another 22 inches in the northern part of the state. Our section is mixing with some freezing rain as well, so our totals are only around 12 or so. HA, only around 12. I guess after this past weekend 12 inches of snow isn't so bad!

School was called off again, and since our Middle School is a shelter, I predict that we will be off for the remainder of the week. It's like a Spring Break in the middle of February. I am going to get too used to waking up around 8:30 instead of 6:30!

Winter Wonderland

On Thursday I decided I no longer wanted the MAJOR snowstorm that was coming our way. My poor husband had to report in on Friday, and wasn't released until Sunday, so I was upset that I didn't get to cuddle up with him while the world looked like a snowglobe outside!

Now that it has snowed, I have to say it is very pretty. Of course, the shoveling of 2 1/2 feet of snow on my driveway so my husband could drive in when he got home wasn't a very good idea. I felt good at the time, now my back hates me for it!

Michael got home on Sunday, which was a blessing! Unfortunately, some others didn't get to come home and we are in for ANOTHER snowstorm tomorrow night into Wednesday, so they now have to stay until Thursday! I am thankful he got out when he did. I can't imagine more snow, but apparently it's coming. Not sure how much, but in Philly they are calling for at least another foot! I have decided I am NOT shoveling this time.

Today, Michael and I went sledding, without a sled. Instead, we used laminated classroom posters that Michael hasn't taken into work yet. They actually worked really well! I have a few pictures and video I will have to post later! I love doing those things with him. Something as simple as sledding, and we had so much fun. He didn't want to go at first, but I convinced him and by the end of it he was laughing and having a good time. I am so thankful he is home, safe, and we can spend time together.

For now, we are just sitting on the couch, waiting for the next round to come in!

I Change My Mind

This weekend, our area is slated to have 18 - 24 inches of snow. Really?! I love snow, so I was so excited to hear this. I figure if we get that much, there will be a State of Emergency, and we won't even have to make up the days we have off from school!

Not to mention, I get to spend all those days curled up on the couch with my husband, watching movies, drinking hot chocolate, and all those great snow day activities.

Think again.

My wonderful Army husband has been called in to be in Command during that time. So now, he has to report at 4 tomorrow, and Lord only knows when he will be home due to the snow! I know, I know, 30 minutes away is nothing compared to Iraq, so I should be thankful, but I bitter.

Instead of spending a wonderful, cozy weekend with my husband, I will be all by myself :( Yes, it could be worse, but I am being selfish. So now I change my mind, I don't want the snow...they can keep it.

If anyone is brave enough to go out, be careful!

Bad or Good Winter

Depending on how you look at it, it could be a bad or good winter. Bad because we have had so much snow here already! We normally don't get a lot of snow until late February or March. So far we have had two pretty major snow storms with more snow scheduled tonight and big snow moving in on Saturday. It's been crazy.

The snow from the weekend gave the students off on Monday, while we had a two hour delay teacher workday. I love those days! They allow us to get work done, actually socialize for once and wear jeans :) Today, we woke up to a two hour delay since the back roads were still pretty icy. Tonight, we originally had a forecast of 1 - 3 inches, which has since been upped to 2 - 4 inches. A delay tomorrow too? They haven't even really started talking about this weekend's snow, but it looks pretty big!

It could be a GOOD winter because we have had teacher workdays, delays and days off! Plus I love playing in snow...who doesn't enjoy a good snow angel?
