This is the last week of my class, and I posted that I was FINISHED a couple days ago. Unfortunately, I logged on this morning and discovered I received a 50% on one of my assignments.
Ok, I do not do 50% work.
They stated they couldn't see my comments, and I went on this morning and they were there. Unless I am going crazy I don't know what else to do. At this point I feel like we are just taking points off to take them off. I've had just about enough.
I have e-mailed so this better get taken care of, but I wish it would happen soon so I can enjoy my weekend and not worry about anything.
So glad to be done this class.

I am a Master x2!
This is the last week of classes for this block at college, and I posted my LAST discussion board post today, which means....
I have finished my 2nd MASTER'S!!!! Yay!
Michael and I are going out to eat tonight, and then I plan to be in celebration mode this weekend. We have a surprise part for one of our friends so that should be fun!
I can't celebrate for too long, it's on to the next one! I really want to complete my Master's in Counseling, and I have two free courses through the district still to use this year, so I might as well use them! I figure the more I do now, the more time I will get to spend with my kids when we have them! I am getting rather tired of class, but I am very excited to learn about this subject so I think I will be ok!
Oh, and apparently we are in store for more snow starting tonight. I think I am ready for summer....

You Want me to Do What?
Last week I met withe my professor to discuss the possibility of teaching a grad class in the Education department. It was my understanding that this was going to be an online class, I would be given the materials and a syllabus and throw in my own assignments here and there.
Not quite.
Instead, I was handed materials to design a course from scratch because they are redesigning the program. Ok, I can still do that. I am sure I can throw together a few assignments and call it a day. Unfortunately, I was informed it isn't an entirely online class either. Instead, since it is a new class and must be taught in the classroom first, I will be teaching it in a hybrid format which means the class meets three times, and the rest is online.
This is where I have the problem.
Have I mentioned I hate standing up in front of people? I start to get this nauseous feeling, and get clammy. I have no problem teaching fourth graders - they are nine and ten! The people in these grad classes will probably be older then me. I. Am. Terrified.
With all that being said, I still agreed to do it. I'm not sure what I was thinking. I am sure it is going to be a very interesting journey. It is definitely an opportunity I could not pass up. The money is great. I will be teaching 6 classes next year at $2,000 a pop. Nice money for a little vacation, or to save for our college fund for when we have kids (yes, I plan that far ahead), OR to buy things for our new house!
Now I just need to design the course! What did you like most about your college courses? Any help in design would be appreciated!!!

A Sigh of Relief!
Back in May, my husband made me aware of a program through the Department of Defense that awarded up to $6,000 to military spouses. This money could be used to take classes, certificate programs, tests or other academic related material that could help you get a job, get certified, basically help your career.
You simply had to get your program approved, register for classes and request the financial assistance. The great part? There is no need to pay the money back, you simply need to tell the DoD how the money helped you further your career.
Being the Type A, overachiever I am, could NOT pass up this opportunity! I quickly set up my program and asked for approval. I have my Master's, but wanted to take classes to get my +45 credits (the highest pay raise you can get without getting a Doctorate). Of course all of this costs money! That's why this program is great! It allowed me to take 5 classes for FREE, and get my +15 pay raise. I have one week of class left until I am finished a second Master's.
I just found out that this program was unexpectedly shut down! As of last Friday, they suspended the program indefinitely to rework it. It has always taken awhile for them to get the money to the university after I request it, but I checked last week and the money for my last class was posted. Talk about getting it in in the nick of time!
Today I am thankful for being organized, and a little bit of luck!

Back to Work We Go
Today was our first day back in 10 days! A early Spring break? An extension of Winter break? Either way you want to look at it, I will take it!
And of course, we woke up this morning to, guess what? MORE SNOW! Don't worry, less than an inch of accumulation occurred, thank goodness! If I had to come home and shovel more I would have lost my mind! Hopefully there is no more snow in our future!
Remember that college teaching job I mentioned? Well I have my meeting on Thursday! We also have a meeting tomorrow with our realtor to go over final listing information for our house, and on Friday we have a meeting with an insurance agent to go over short term disability for when I ever go out on maternity leave (no, not pregnant). BIG things this week!!

Valentine's Date Night
Last night Michael and I celebrated Valentine's day! We headed out for a movie, and then to dinner at one of our favorite places. Of course my husband volunteered to take me to a place I have been begging to eat at, only to realize it was still closed due to the snow. Stupid snow.
Before dinner we went to see "Dear John", the new movie based on a Nicholas Sparks book. I love Nicholas Sparks, and I am the type that thinks a movie never lives up to the book, but I have always liked the movies. This movie was a little different. I read the book awhile ago, so I didn't remember all of it, but I remembered the basic details. Well the movie was very different, and I was VERY angry about the premise. Now, don't get me wrong, the premise was the same as the book, but I read the book pre-deployment, and early on in Michael and I's relationship. My feelings about the military and deployment have changed greatly, needless to say. I was so mad at the idea of this girl leaving her boyfriend while he was deployed, I couldn't really enjoy the rest of the movie.
Yes, I know, it's a movie, but it still annoys me so much. There are people who actually do that to their significant others while they are deployed. Cheat on them, spend all of their money, leave them....I think it's absolutely ridiculous. Anyway, the movie got me pretty fired up, and I walked out wishing I had seen something different. (I blame this on the Irish temper).
We went to dinner afterwards which was nice, as always. They had a champagne special and that hooked me! We even had dessert - an amazing peanut butter pie. I swear they had to have brought us 1/4 of the pie! Sorry Weight Watchers....it had to have been 50 points. Ah well...there's always next week!
